Bad Breath Treatment At Home Lemon Juice

Bad breath is something that tens of millions of people suffer from in the United States and can be very embarrassing if it is not treated. Everyone has had a conversation with someone that had horrible breath and knows how bad it can be. Luckily there are a number of things that you can do to naturally cure your bad breath. Afterwards you will not have to worry so much about having to worry every time you meet someone and strike up a conversation. You can always talk with a dentist in Orlando Fl, but you can also try one of the many natural ways which include using lemon, peppermint oil, parsley, water and avoiding grains and sugar.

If you eat garlic or onions frequently, you can overcome the bad breath that it gives my sucking on a lemon. Likewise, stick a lemon slice in your water for the same effect. You can also keep a glass of lemon juice somewhere handy and simply put a drop on your tongue. This will actually stimulate the saliva in your mouth and help fight against bad breath. Next, look for products that contain peppermint oil. It can usually be purchased in a pill form from a drug store or pharmacy. It can also sometimes be found as a mouth wash. Keep an eye out for it and buy it if you need a quick fix for your bad breath.

Next, using parsley can be quite effective against bad breath. The reason is because the plant is actually quite rich in chlorophyll and acts as a natural deodorizer. You can always keep some parsley around the kitchen to chew on when you feel like you have bad breath. If you would rather use a recipe, you can boil parsley with cloves. Afterwards, let the water cool and strain the parsley and cloves out. This can essentially be used as mouthwash every morning.

Looking at one of the main causes of bad breath is the bacterium that naturally grows in the mouth. The bacterium produces sulfur. Sulfur is one of the main things that produce the smell that is associated with bad breath. Drinking plenty of water on a regular basis will help to not only quench your thirst, but also to kill the bacterium that is living inside your mouth. It is recommended that you drink at least 9 glasses of water every day. By drinking lots of water you can kill two birds with one stone and not only drink for your health, but also keep your breath clean. Unlike water, grains and sugar actually encourage the growth of the bacteria inside your mouth. If you are able to reduce the amount you eat of these products, you limit the amount of bacteria that is grown inside your mouth, thus reducing your bad breath.

How to get rid of a cold over night?
Okay so i have a cold. And i have a field trip out of state on Monday (its Friday) and if i'm not better by Monday i cant go....so i really need someone to help me now !!! I wanna feel better !! And BTW i cant buy anything so any home remedies with house hold items will be very much appreciated ! Thank you !

    • ANSWER:
Get a nice, thick terry towel and wrap it around your neck. Pin it in place, so it's nice and warm. Wear it to bed. The next morning you should feel a lot better. Also you can try a steamer-like treatment where you put a bowl of boiling water on a table, and sit at the table in front of it. Make a tent of a towel over your head and the bowl, so that you can breath the steam that comes off the water. It should help your sinuses. Eat an orange or two, with the pulp. (Don't settle for orange juice, it has too much sugar and will make your cold worse.) Avoid eating any sugar, as this will make your cold last longer. Also try putting your feet in a pan of water -- as hot as you can tolerate it. Do this sitting in a chair. (At the table while doing the tent steamer is good.) Let the water cool and then remove your feet and dry them off. Put on socks and retire to bed. (with the neck towel.) You might also try lemon water -- put some lemon juice in water and drink it, like lemonade, but without the sugar. The vitamin C in it will help your cold, just like the Vitamin C in the oranges. Get extra rest. Your body needs this to heal.

What might also help is doing an 'At Home Facial'.

      Supplies
      •Clean, soft cloth
      •Small towel
      •Cotton pads
      •Pan of warm water
      •Cleanser
      •Toner
      •Facial Mask
      •Moisturizer
      Facial Steps

      1. Wash your face and neck with a mild facial cleanser. Using your fingertips, gently rub in an upward motion. Rinse well.

      2. Steam face with a wet towel. Soak a towel in very warm water. Wring out excess water and wrap towel around your face. Keep your nose exposed... so you can breath;). Leave on for 5 minutes. The warmth will gently open pores.

      3. Now apply a facial mask. A French Green Clay mask makes an excellent facial treatment. It has been used to enhance beauty for centuries. It draws oils, toxins, and other impurities, improving the tone and health of skin. Fullers Earth Clay Mask is suggested for oily and acne prone skin.

Relax for the next 10-15 minutes while the mask works its magic. This is the time to put your feet up and let go of stress. Then, gently remove the mask with warm water and a clean cloth. Dead skin cells will be whisked away with the mask.

      4. Next, apply a facial toner with a soft cotton pad. Allow to air dry.

      5. Finish with a natural facial moisturizer. Moisturizing is especially effective after a steam and facial mask treatment. The moisturizer will sink right into skin.

      Exfoliation - Optional

An optional step is exfoliation. Be gentle, though, as an exfoliator can be harsh to tender facial skin. And use a mild, natural product.

To exfoliate, first cleanse your face. Before steaming, gently apply the exfoliator with your fingertips. Use a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly.

For dry skin, exfoliate no more than once per month. Oily skin can handle exfoliation once a week.

      Pressed for time?

Give yourself a mini-facial. Just shorten the steaming and skip the mask.

  6. QUESTION:
What could be causing swelling in my upper eyelids?
I hardly use makeup and if I do its hypoallergenic, I am in my 40s and most of the time my upper eyelids look as if there was an egg stuck in each eye. No crease whatsoever, I do not practice boxing. Its so unattractive and makes me look ill. Water is no issue because I make sure I drink plenty of it. Anybody had this problem and what could be causing it. I never had this issue before. thanks

    • ANSWER:
I had that too for years, but mostly on one eye. I'm middle age now. First the simple solution. It's an allergy symptom. Allergy eye drops work great. That treats the symptom, which is what Drs have us do for most common problems that aren't viral or bacterial.

Later, I become very ill with all sorts of weird symptoms - about 25. Took a very long time to figure out what was wrong and Drs had no clue. Turns out because there is no test to test for what was bothering me. My daughter was symptomatic too at the same time. We are allergic to pesticides - in food and every day products. Since it can be in detergents, we found detergents that didn't bother us. And had to begin an organic diet. It all worked out very well. In the process it became obvious that my swollen eyelids were caused by my reaction to pesticides. It was a sensitivity I had all of my life, but didn't know it because the symptoms are every day common health problems. In my case they just go worse as allergies can.

My symptoms meant that neurons in my nervous system had become very frail and intolerant of poison. Pesticides are especially harsh on weak neurons even in trace amounts. Below is my plan for reducing pesticide body load if you want to try it to see if it cures your eyelid problems. It's very easy and can be done in parts but the diet, mostly staple organic foods, must be followed completely. Good luck.

      Home treatment

All products below are easy on the nervous system. Few or no insect killers and like, especially the Palmolive and Aleve and baking soda.

Use only foods with fully organic ingredients -read all labels always. If exposure to problem fumes is unavoidable breath though the mouth to reroute Poison away from the brain. Make and eat anything you like as long as it's not processed with water and is fully organic. The foods below are the ones known to me to be fully organic with the exception of unbleached flour.

Tip: Use hand sanitizer after using conventional hand soap to sedate strong chemicals (pesticides) in soap. Better: use Palmolive original dish detergent for hand soap.

Tip: If you have cloth lampshades in the bedroom, remove them from the room or wash them by hand with Tide-free.

Tip: No baking powder. Substitute organic cream of tartar (from internet) + baking soda + organic corn starch; or fully organic lemon juice + baking soda for leavening. Use only the products below for soap

Tide-free (use no fabric softener) - wash all bedding, pillows drapes right away. Then clothes - Palmolive original dish detergent (use for all cleaning) - Aleve neproxen non-gelcaps - Dr Bronner's organic unscented liquid soap - Baking soda for toothpaste - Colgate's Peroxyl rinse for mouth wash - Almay hypoallergenic or mineral deodorant (sold at health food stores).

Produce - Butter (salted only) - Eggs -Whole milk -Peanut butter - Unbleached flour -Salt (no additives) - Olive oil - Ocean caught fish in place of organic meat to trim budget - peanuts - agave nectar sweetener in place of sugar - canned little fish fillets in spring water . Flours, grains, sugars, and seasoning are not fully organic ( tap water part of processing), but hey, got to have pancakes, bread, and cake once in a while as long as fully organic otherwise and homemade. Eat anything you want and make anything you want as long as it's all organic.

Poison-free Organic Ice cream recipe = 2 eggs+16oz half+half + 1/4 cp Agave nectar. Heat in microwave on Hi for 2 min ea + stir = 7 min. Freezer until cool. Add another 16oz half+half + Mix. Put ice cream maker or in any container into freezer. Wait 2-3 hrs.

    • ANSWER:
The common symptoms which are indicative of a flu include fever over 38ºC in adults and in case of children, it is 39.5º - 40.5º C. Headache, dry cough, chills and sweats, nasal congestion, runny nose and of appetite are the other common indications of a flu. Symptoms may also include back aches, pain in arms and legs, fatigue, weakness, feeling of being washed out, diarrhea and, vomiting in children. Talking about the causes of flu, influenza A, B and C are the three types of virus which are responsible for bringing on the condition. Flu is also, highly contagious and can easily spread through sneezing, coughing and even talking. The viruses can travel through the air in droplets and can infect a healthy person.

Some Effective Home Remedies to Manage Influenza Symptoms

Rest is the foremost home remedy for flu. Getting ample amount of sleep helps the body to relax and its immune system to ward off the infection.

Homemade chicken soup is yet another remedy, followed by most. It not only tastes delicious, but also aids in taking care of the flu symptoms.

When flu is accompanied by fever, vomiting or diarrhea, the body suffers from dehydration. This can further aggravate the condition. So drink plenty of water including fruit juices, herbal teas, soda, electrolytic beverages, warm soups and keep the body well hydrated. Avoid coffee and other caffeinated drinks, as they serve as diuretics (any substance that tends to increase the flow of urine, which causes the body to get rid of excess water). Not to mention, turn a blind eye towards alcohol. That is the worst thing you can think to take while suffering from an illness such as a flu!

Among the herbs which are used as effective home remedies to manage flu, elderberry is one. This herb has been tested to bear antiviral activity against influenza types A and B. Apart from this, elderberry is also anti-inflammatory by nature. Studies have revealed that elderberry extract is helpful in getting rid of flu symptoms in just 2 - 3 days, followed by a complete recovery.

Another natural remedy to reduce flu symptoms is a herb known as licorice root. This herb is also anti-viral by nature and thus, helpful in not only the treatment of flu, but herpes and even hepatitis.

The spread of flu is rapid during the winter months. This is due to the fact that artificial heat lowers the humidity inside the house and this makes way for the flu virus to thrive easily. So, keeping indoors humidified is recommended. The moist air will not only prevent the spread of the flu, but also relieve nasal congestion.

Dry cough may keep you from getting enough sleep and it may tire the body. So, you may chew raw cloves of ginger root in order to lessen the cough, or take a mix of ginger with honey. Alternatively, you can mix some honey in a cup of hot water and take whenever you feel the need to cough. You may also squeeze some lemon for taste. Garlic is also considered to lessen the severity of the flu symptoms, when taken at the first signs of flu.

Home remedies for treating flu also include taking fruits rich in Vitamin C like oranges, grapefruits, lemons, papaya, guava, pomelo, dalanghita, anonas, kasuy, datiles, atis, tomato, balimbing, guyabano, mango, etc. Vitamin C helps to boost the immune system and thus, curbs the condition from worsening further.

Start of with a facial cleanser that has exfoliating beads, if you don't have this at your disposal just try some yogurt, honey, and sugar mixed together. (Table spoon of yogurt, drizzle of honey, and teaspoon of sugar.)
Then get some ice and press it lightly against the pimple.
Get a lemon and squeeze the juice out, simply get a cotten pad and coat the face in it, preventing future breakouts but put it particularily concentrated on where the pimple is.

  10. QUESTION:
I can't stop coughing- sucks balls. How can I stop coughing?
Seriously- whenver I get a cough, it lingers forever and a day. It stays for months, sometimes. How can I get rid of it once and for all?

    • ANSWER:
You shouldn't say that it "sucks balls," but coughing can be painful and annoying.

If you have a productive cough, which is like a wet cough, here are some possible reasons why:
-viral illnesses, like a common cold
-infections of the lungs or upper airway passages
      -pneumonia
      -bronchitis
      -sinusitis
      -tuberculosis
      -chronic lung disease
      -chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
-stomach acid backing up into the esophagus (could be gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD)
-nasal discharge draining down the back of the throat (postanasal drip syndrome)
      -smoking/tobacco use

If you have a non-productive cough, or a dry cough, here are some possible reasons:
-viral illnesses, like one that lasts for weeks after a common cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), etc.
-bronchospasm (spasms in the bronchial tubes caused by irritation)
      -allergies/allergic rhinitis
-if you're taking medications called ACE inhibitors used to control high blood pressure (Capoten, Vasotec, Prinivil, Zestril, Zestoretic)
-exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals in work environment
-asthma (also includes wheezing, shortness of breath, or a feeling of tightness in chest)

If you're a child, it could be:
      -croup
      -bronchiolitis
-infection of the lower respiratory system, like one caused by respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV
-a foreign object, like a toy or food, stuck in the airway
      -exposure to secondhand smoke
      -emotional or psychological problems

(Most coughs seem to be caused by viral illnesses)

If the cough is persistant and bothering you, it might be best to get a health evaluation from your doctor. A cough is a symptom, not a disease, so your doctor will need to evaluate other symptoms that you may be having to diagnose a possible problem. Other symptoms include sore throat, sinus pressure, or ear pain.

If your cough is a productive cough, don't try to get rid of it. It's your body's way to removing foreign substances and mucus from your lungs and upper airway passages. But... sometimes coughs are so bad that they can hurt your breathing and prevent prope rest. Here are some tips to help you feel more comfortable with a cough:
-drink plenty of healthy fluids to thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat; if you have a dry cough, drink honey in hot water, tea, or lemon juice. (don't give honey to kids younger than 1 year old)
-elevate your head with extra pillows at night to ease a dry cough
-suck on cough drops or hard candy
-quit smoking or use any forms of tobacco, especially while you have a cough
-avoid exposure to smoke, dust, and other pollutants that are inhaled, or wear a face mask when you are being exposed to them
-take aceetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or ketoprofen (all over-the-counter pain relievers) in moderation to relieve discomfort associated with cough; don't exceed recommended daily dosage, carefully read and follow the directions, call your doctor before taking anything that you think may affect your health or interact with other medications, don't take aspirin if you're under 20 years old, and don't take anything if you are or could be pregnant without calling your doctor first.

      Other tips:
-use a cool air humidifier; use only water in the humidifier and let the vapor blow directly into your face
-sit in the bathroom and turn on the shower to create steam, close the door and stay in the room for several minutes, breathing the moist air
-breathe the cool night air (but stay bundled up)

If home treatments don't help, I would see a doctor as soon as you can, especially if you have any of these symptoms:
      -moderate to severe chest pain
      -difficulty breathing
      -fever
      -coughing up blood
-a cough lasts longer than 2 weeks without other respiratory symptoms
-symptoms get more severe or more frequent

      Cough prevention:
-wash your hands frequently during cold and flu season
-avoid people who have a cold or flu
      -don't smoke or use tobacco
      -avoid exposure to secondhand smoke
-inrease your fluid intake to as much as 8-10 glasses of water every day
-get a flu shot every fall, especially if you're older than 50
-get a pneumonia shot if you're older than 65 or if you have a chronic lung disease like asthma, COPD, or a health risk that increases the seriousness of your symptoms

Good luck and I hope you stop coughing soon!

    • ANSWER:
To treat dry mouth, the use of caffeine-containing beverages, alcoholic beverages, and mouthwashes containing alcohol should be minimized. Drinking water and fruit juices will decrease dry mouth problems. Chewing gum and lemon drops can be used to stimulate saliva flow. Bitters also can initiate salivary flow as long as the salivary glands and ducts are functional. Commercial saliva substitutes are available without prescription and can be used as frequently as needed. Use of a humidifier in the bedroom reduces nighttime oral dryness.
There are several herbal remedies that may be effective in increasing saliva production and preventing dry mouth. Drinking ginger, chamomile, or Chinese green tea at frequent intervals stimulates salivary flow. A Chinese herbal mix of ophiopogois, pinelliae tuber, zizyphi fructus, glycyrrhiaze, ginseng radix, and oryzae semen has been evaluated as treatment for dry mouth. Studies have shown this formula is effective in relieving dry mouth in half of those tested, including severe cases, such as cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy.

  12. QUESTION:
Lingering dog urine smell in carpet after intense cleaning. 10 points!?
My 5 year old dog urinated on our carpet 4 days ago O.o He refuses to pee when the neighbor dog is outside. Anyway, as soon as is happened I Steam cleaned the carpet.
    Steam cleaning didn't work.
    I have tried:
Steam cleaning 6 times (resolve, enzyme urine wash, oxyclean, lysol, dawn, and wisk) Didn't help at all.
Dumped vinegar on the area and soaked it up with a towel. Didn't work.
Sprinkled with baking soda and vacuumed. didn't work
Squeezed lemon juice on the area, didn't work
Poured vodka on the area. Didn't work. (this advice was from my russian grandmama lol)

I'm about to rip up the carpet. My house smells like really bad onion breath and body odor! HELP!
Oh, his urine is bad because of a supplement his vet has him take because he has food and environmental allergies
I already did the vinigar towel thing...

    • ANSWER:
Bicarbonate of soda is about the most effective thing you can use to get rid of smells but you've already used this! However, have you allowed this carpet to dry after the treatments? It occurs to me that the smell might be lingering because it's still damp. He must have a very bad condition for his urine to smell like this and to be honest, I think you are faced with lifting the carpet. But allow it to dry completely, and keep the air moving in your home (windows open) and see if it clears. We use Oust in the UK, for getting rid of smells - it removes, instead of replaces which so many preparations do, and which makes it ten times worse!! I'd not think vinegar or lemon juice would do the trick - nor vodka.... what a waste!!

Make it habit to clean the teeth every morning and before retiring to bed. In India, people use thin twig of a Babul, Banyan or a Neem tree (known as Datoon) as a brush. First it is to be crushed to make it soft and then use it like a brush. It is advisable to us a Datoon of Babul, Banyan or Neem tree at least once a day.

It is reported by experienced dentists that tooth pastes available in the marked are not much effective. Instead, the following tooth powder or paste which can be easily made at home has been found quite useful for the care of gums and teeth :

      1. Tooth Powder : Mixture of finely ground alum powder 40% and rock salt or regular salt powder 60%. For better results, a few drops of lemon may be added. In case of dental problems, adding a little of 'Sudarshan' (a bitter Ayrvedic powder is also recommended.

      15% edible oil (unrefined)

      5% camphor.

The paste made of this mixture can be massaged on the teeth and gums in the morning and evening with fingers. It ca be packed in collapsible tubes/jars and used, as tooth-paste.

      3. 14. QUESTION:
Help if you know about hair and dye please!?
Ok, il keep this as short and straight to the point as possible.

I am a male, I used to have very light blonde hair, I only have dirty blonde/brown hair now, I have a faux hawk, I thought hey I'm going to figure out a way to lighten my hair.

After lots of research I found out about the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda method, I made the paste, applied it to my hair and my god it worked amazing! I was so happy, but this is where I messed up, I thought hey il put it in my hair again for an even lighter blonde..

Now my hair color changed a bit to dramatically for me and even has a slight orange tint.. I feel really pissed, good thing my hair is somewhat short right now and my hair grows fast.

Now, I know absolutely nothing about hair dye so please educate me. Can I buy a hair dye at the store and fix my hair? I don't want to go to a saloon period.

So what can I do? Please help!

    • ANSWER:
My son did that in college, trying to hit a nerve with me . . . his hair was black and used hydrogen peroxide and made his hair blonde. But I'll tell you this . . . they are blonde until they're 100% cut, but yes, you can do that.

Hair lightening from the sun is drying to the hair, it also means they're discolored from sunburned. Add lemon juice to the formula, or any other methods, is the result for double dried & damaged hair.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Hallowe’en party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. It’s made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. It’s well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND. The British woman who went into coma after a reaction to hair dye has died after a year. Updated 11-25-12. The woman suffered a heart failure, struggled for breath and became unconsciousness. Her family blamed paraphenylenediamine, a chemical found in hair colour. Her family has now called for paraphenylenediamine to be banned from home dye kits. In 2000, a 38-year-old Indian-origin woman from Birmingham, Narinder Devi, died after an allergic reaction to hair dye.

Well about a month ago, I had went to due to doctor for treatment because I had heartburn, and it had bugged me. After a hospital visit on a Sunday, I was told I had GERD. Though the doctor said I can possibly get rid of it if I lose weight and change my diet. (Course, I started to follow it). Then I was prescribed Pepcid AC to cope with it and Maalox(If I chose to add it)

  19. QUESTION:
What is the cause of my acne?
I'm a 14 year old girl, and at age 10, I was the first of my friends to get pimples. At first it was just a few zits, but over the years it has formed into acne and it's terrible. I wouldn't call it severe, because I've seen severe cases, but it's the worst of anybody in my grade, and I rarely see [people my age] with worse acne.
By the way, my acne is on 60% of my forehead and a little bit beside my nose but more near my mouth, and around my hairline (I always make sure my hair is clean and not oily, so don't worry), but never ever on my cheeks. My cheeks have always been very nice & smooth, which I'm thankful for.
So it's been within the past 6 months that I've been taking my skin care more seriously.
I learned I had an oily T-Zone, so I used toner and I moisturize with moisturizer for oily skin. My skin now has even oil levels, but the acne is still there. I then decided that I had large pores, making it easier for them to get dirty, so I started cleansing more seriously. Now, my face is nice and clean, but the zits are still sitting on my face. I drink water which has improved my complexion, but the pimples are still there. Lately, they've been on my back, too. I wear cotton shirts, and wear open back shirts when I'm at home to let my skin breath, and I use body acne scrub, but still they just won't go away.

Sorry this is long, but I've tried so many different things that have improved my skin, but never my acne, and it's so annoying! I do everything I'm supposed to. I even put ice cubes on my face before applying makeup so that my pores close and dirt and such don't get in. & also don't worry, I make sure that all my makeup is oil and petroleum free.
What do you think the cause could be?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S. Please do not list acne treatments that have worked for you. I just want to know what's causing my acne so I can prevent it and get rid of it myself.
I also exfoliate once a week. I've changed my whole lifestyle to benefit my acne, but nothing works. I also make sure I get enough sleep so my skin has time to repair itself.

    • ANSWER:
Acne and zits are just signs of puberty. Depending on genes, some get none and some more than others. It's nothing to worry about because they will disappear over time. If no one in your family had much acne then you should worry about it :| Are you taking off your makeup every night? Are you wearing good quality makeup that's oil free? Try eating healthy.
Put lemon juice on a cotton pad and press it gently on the acne spots for a few minutes then get some really thin potato slices and rub them on the acne spots. Then lie down and put different potato slices on your skin and leave them there for like 15 mins. Just do this when you feel like it or 2-1 times a week. Also wash your face 2 times a day. I don't get acne on my cheeks either. It's just my nose and hairline, with some zits on my forehead. If it doesn't clear up within 6 months - a year go and see a dermatologist or see a chinese herbalist for some natural medicine. It will go away, trust me :D

  21. QUESTION:
    Sinus Infection? Please help!?

The doc. gave me augmentin (antibiotic) so I've been taking that for 2 days now. So I'm wondering is the pressure in my head normal with a sinus infection? And how long do sinus infections usually last?
I forgot to add that I am not having any nose discharge and nor have had any since this all started.

    • ANSWER:
Sinus infection, or sinusitis, is an inflammation of the sinuses and nasal passages. A sinus infection can cause a headache or pressure in the eyes, nose, cheek area, or on one side of the head. A person with a sinus infection may also have a cough, a fever, bad breath, and nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions. Sinusitis is categorized as acute (sudden onset) or chronic (long term, the most common type).

Anatomy of the sinuses (also called paranasal sinuses): The human skull contains four major pairs of hollow air-filled–cavities called sinuses. These are connected to the space between the nostrils and the nasal passage. Sinuses help insulate the skull, reduce its weight, and allow the voice to resonate within it. The four major pairs of sinuses are the:

      * Frontal sinuses (in the forehead)

      * Maxillary sinuses (behind the cheek bones)

      * Ethmoid sinuses (between the eyes)

      * Sphenoid sinuses (behind the eyes)

The sinuses contain defenses against foreign viruses and bacteria (germs). If the normal defenses are disrupted, they may allow bacteria normally present in the nasal passages to enter any of the sinuses. Once there, the bacteria may stick to the lining cells and cause a sinus infection.

Acute sinusitis usually lasts less than eight weeks or occurs no more than three times per year with each episode lasting no longer than 10 days. Medications are usually effective against acute sinusitis. Successful treatment counteracts damage done to the mucous lining of the sinuses and surrounding bone of the skull.

Chronic sinusitis lasts longer than eight weeks or occurs more than four times per year with symptoms usually lasting more than 20 days.

The sinuses are covered with a mucus layer and cells that contain little hairs on their surfaces (cilia). These help trap and propel bacteria and pollutants outward.
