Rotten Egg Burps Diarrhea Stomach Pain

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Sulfur burps accompanied by diarrhea?
I've had sulfur/ rotten egg burps on and off for a few weeks now. I've also had diarrhea on and off for about the same amount of time. Neither are constant- they come and go, usually about the same time. I haven't had any stomach pain or any other complications other than this. I haven't noticed a food pattern but there might be one. What could be causing this? Is it serious? Should I consider going to a doctor or will it go away?

    • ANSWER:
The symptoms seem like you might have giardiasis or some other parasite. It would be a good idea to see a doc (and probably provide a stool sample).

  2. QUESTION:
PLEASE HELP!!i need to find a site where you put in your symptoms and they help give you a diagnosis or advice
is there a site you can go to that you put in your symtoms and they give you a couple of things that might be wrong and maybe somethings you can do to relieve some of the problems!! i don't have insurance i'm 31 and i've been to the hospital 2 in 3 wks, i have stomach pains that are like labor (and i've had twins naturally) diarriah, vomiting, and rotten egg smelling burps. they say it's sour stomach or gasteralinterites. but the spells happen at least 3 times a mon. and they use to last 6 hrs. and it has progressed into 3-4 days. they say i need a specialist to get a diagnoises but you have to pay at least half if your lucky just for the first vist. that's just not possible, and i can't keep going to the hospital, even though it relives it for 2 days cuz that's $ i still have to pay back. i know this isn't just stomach flu stuff, and i can't handle the pain anymore.so if anyone knows a site that might help or places that help people w/out insurance please let me know

    • ANSWER:
Giardia lamblia, a protozoa, heads the list of water-borne germs that cause "the runs" and occurs often enough after wilderness trips to be dubbed "backpacker's diarrhea." After ingesting the little bugs, it takes one to three weeks, an average of nine days, before symptoms show up. Symptoms are among the most unpleasant of non-invasive diarrheas: loose and foul-smelling stools, cramps, rotten-egg burps, loss of energy, loss of appetite, loss of weight, and loss of people who once enjoyed your company. Antibiotic treatment is often indicated. (blood test can figure this one out if they tested you for it.)

  3. QUESTION:
I have been burping, and it taste like rotten eggs, what does mean? what causes it?
i have also been having sharp pains and just pains in my stomach, are the two problems related?

    • ANSWER:
OK know exactly what you mean. What you are experiencing is the gas released by bacteria that is in your stomach(this bacteria should not be there). Sometimes it only causes a strange taste, some times it causes nausea vomiting and diarrhea as well as cramps. It usually comes from eating improperly cooked food, but the same bacteria is found naturally in your digestive tract. You can also get it from not washing your hands and then consuming food, or from contaminated water.
It can be caused by girrardia, e-coli and several other bacteria.

The best thing to do is make sure that you rest, drink plenty of liquids and let it run its course. If you experience severe pain vomiting and diarrhea you need to go get checked out in the ER. If you have any pre-existing conditions such as diabetes you need to go before the symptoms get severe as you can cause dangerously low blood sugars due to vomiting.

Also if you have never had your appendix removed and you have an absence of BM's then you need to be checked to ensure that you do not have a bowel obstruction or appendicitis.

  4. QUESTION:
    Burping, diarrhea, stomach ache?
On September ninth around 3:00 pm I noticed I would get these really bad tasting rotten egg like burps very often .(smelled and tasted bad) around 2 am that night, I woke up with horrible stomach pain. I did not get any sleep that night, and I had diarrhea and even vomited once. But I felt completely better the next day. Well today, the 24th, I experienced the burps again, not so bad, and got the pain in the AM. It was bad. I had severe diarrhea but did not vomit, and now feel completely fine. I don't drink alot of water {I know its bad} could it be that, or something Im eating? I eat the same lunch everyday. I've pooped once every 2 days but its been this way for a year {since i got my period} and has caused me no health problems whatsoever before. What is this? I dont wanna go through this again in a month!
